Is the student health insurance comprehensive, i.e., includes hospitalization if needed?
Yes, the plan offered is ACA compliant and covers all Essential Health Benefits. It is rated as a Platinum level plan for those familiar with metal levels for ACA plans.
Does the student health insurance include dental coverage?
No. The Kenyon College Student Health Insurance Plan does not offer dental coverage. However, there is pediatric dental coverage within the medical plan for students under age 19 who are enrolled on the plan.
Am I eligible for the student health insurance plan?
All registered full-time students are required to have health insurance coverage, either through the Student Health Insurance Plan or another individual or family plan. Students will need to opt-in or waive the coverage.
What is the coverage period?
The plan runs for 12 months (the full academic year, 8/15/2023 – 8/14/2024) if you meet the eligibility requirements.
If I have my own coverage that meets the waiver requirements, how often do I need to submit a waiver application?
Kenyon College requires one completed waiver per academic year at the beginning of the fall semester. For newly admitted students in the spring, you will be required to complete a waiver at this time.
Does the student health insurance cover student medical expenses off campus or when traveling (e.g., to home state)?
Yes, the Kenyon College Student Health Insurance Plan uses the Cigna PPO network which is recognized nationally. As always, please confirm with the provider that they are in-network before services are rendered.
How can I find in-network providers?
You can use the find a provider tool at mycigna.com. While this list is kept up to date, we recommend confirming with both the provider and facility that they are in-network before the time of service to ensure the lowest out-of-pocket costs.
How can I download an ID card?

If your waiver application is denied for not meeting the Kenyon College requirements, you will be required to take Kenyon College’s Student Health Insurance. Should you choose to appeal a denied waiver, please follow the instructions provided on your denied waiver email from Wellfleet.
