Who Is Eligible?

All full-time undergraduate students who are registered for 12 or more credit hours are required to purchase the Student Health Insurance Plan unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.

Eligible students who do enroll in coverage may also insure their Dependents. Eligible Dependents are the student’s legal spouse and dependent children under the age of 26.

For students covered under an alternative insurance plan (via a parent, guardian, etc.), health insurance information must be provided to the College via the health insurance portal in my.gcc.edu.

To submit or purchase health insurance coverage, log in to my.gcc.edu, open the Health Insurance portal under the Student menu, and make a selection to purchase the College plan or enter current, valid health insurance information. Students may submit their health insurance status beginning May 1 for the upcoming academic year. If a student participates in a Healthcare Sharing Ministry instead of a traditional plan, provide the name of the ministry utilized.

Students are required to submit this information each academic year. If a student has a change in health insurance status during the academic year, the change must be submitted through the Health Insurance portal in my.gcc.edu at that time. If a student loses coverage mid-year under their original plan, the student may qualify to purchase the College plan due to a Qualifying Life Event upon providing proof of involuntary loss of coverage within 30 days of losing coverage. The student should contact the Office of Student Accounts immediately upon loss of coverage to determine if they are eligible for mid-year enrollment in the College plan.

Yes, the plan offered is ACA compliant and covers all Essential Health Benefits. It is rated as a Platinum level plan for those familiar with metal levels for ACA plans.

Am I eligible for the student health insurance plan?

All registered full-time students who are taking 12 or more credits are required to have health insurance coverage, either through this Student Health Insurance Plan or through another individual or family plan. Students will need to opt-in or waive the coverage.

What is the coverage period?

The plan runs for 12 months (the full academic year, 8/15/2025 – 8/14/2026) if you meet the eligibility requirements.

If I have my own coverage that meets the waiver requirements, how often do I need to submit a waiver application?

Grove City College requires one completed waiver per academic year at the beginning of the fall semester. For newly admitted students in the spring, you will be required to complete a waiver at this time.

Does the student health insurance cover student medical expenses off campus or when traveling (e.g., to home state)?

Yes, the Grove City College Student Health Insurance Plan uses the UnitedHealthcare PPO network which is recognized nationally. As always, please confirm with the provider that they are in-network before services are rendered.

How can I find in-network providers?

You can use the find a provider by visiting this link connect.werally.com/medicalProvider/root.

While this list is kept up to date, we recommend confirming with both the provider and facility that they are in-network before the time of service to ensure the lowest out-of-pocket costs.

What happens if my waiver application is denied?

If your waiver application is denied for not meeting the Grove City College requirements, you will be required to take the Grove City College Student Health Insurance. Should you choose to appeal a denied waiver, please follow the instructions provided on your denied waiver email.
