Who Is Eligible?

Domestic Students

All registered Undergraduate and Graduate Domestic students taking at least one credit are required to have health insurance coverage, either through this Student Health Insurance Plan or through another individual or family plan. Students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan at registration and the premium is added to the student’s tuition fees unless proof of comparable coverage is provided by completing the waiver.

International Students

All registered International Students taking at least one credit are required to have health insurance coverage. Students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan at registration and the premium is added to the student’s tuition fees and do not have the option to waive coverage.

Dependents

Dependents are not eligible for coverage.

Waiving Coverage

If You are a domestic student eligible to be covered under this Plan, You are automatically enrolled in and charged premium for the coverage, unless You waive coverage. Students are given one opportunity to waive coverage for the academic year at the beginning of the fall semester, with the exception of winter/spring waivers for students newly admitted for spring term.

Dental & Vision Coverage (Students 18 & Younger)

Students age 18 and under have access to dental and vision benefits up to the last day of the month in which you turn 19.

  • Dental exams and cleanings
  • Fillings
  • Emergency treatment
  • Routine oral surgery

Vision

You have access to the following vision coverage each benefit year in which you are eligible:

  • Preventive vision exam
  • Frames, lenses, or contact lenses

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

Included in the Wellfleet medical coverage is a $10,000 AD&D benefit in the event of death or dismemberment.

24 Hour Nurseline

Students who enroll and maintain medical coverage in this insurance plan have access to 24 Hour Nurseline. Calls are answered 24/7/365 by a registered nurse to answer health questions and assist in determining the appropriate level of care for an injury or sickness. Call 800-634-7629.

CareConnect 24/7 Behavioral Health & Nurseline

CareConnect offers students access to licensed behavioral health clinicians 24/7/365 at 888-857-5462.

Emergency Medical & Travel Assistance

Wellfleet Student provides access to emergency medical and travel assistance, reparation, and other travel assistance services when traveling. For general inquiries regarding the travel access assistance services coverage, call Wellfleet Student at 877-657-5030.

If you are traveling and need assistance, call 877-305-1966 (U.S./Canada) or 715-295-9311 (outside U.S./Canada). When you call, please provide your name, school name, the group number shown on your ID card, and a description of your situation.

Is the student health insurance comprehensive i.e., includes hospitalization if needed? 

Yes, the plan offered is ACA compliant and covers all Essential Health Benefits. It is rated as a Platinum level plan for those familiar with metal levels for ACA plans.

Does the student health insurance include dental coverage?
The Antioch College Student Health Insurance Plan has both pediatric and adult dental benefits. Please refer to the Wellfleet Certificate for additional information on this coverage.

Am I eligible for the student health insurance plan?  
All undergraduate and international students taking at least one credit are eligible and REQUIRED to carry medical insurance. Insured students who are enrolled in the Student Health Plan may also enroll their eligible dependents.

What is the coverage period?
The plan runs for 12 months (the full academic year, 8/27/2025 – 8/26/2026) if you meet the eligibility requirements.

If I have my own coverage that meets the waiver requirements, how often do I need to submit a waiver application?
Antioch College requires one completed waiver per academic year at the beginning of the fall semester. For newly admitted students in the spring, you will be required to complete a waiver at this time.

Does the student health insurance cover student medical expenses off campus or when traveling (e.g., to home state)?
Yes, the Antioch College Student Health Insurance Plan uses the Cigna PPO network which is recognized nationally. As always, please confirm with the provider that they are in-network before services are rendered.

How can I find in-network providers?

Use the Find a Provider tool. While this list is kept up to date, we recommend confirming with both the provider and facility that they are in-network before the time of service to ensure the lowest out-of-pocket costs.

What happens if I lose my own or my parent’s coverage mid-semester? Can I join the Antioch College Student Health Insurance Plan?
You may be eligible to join the plan mid-semester if you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE,) such as loss of coverage. Please contact Malinda Townsend at malinda.townsend@usi.com for more information should you experience a QLE.
